Sleep deprivation affects all aspects of a person's life. Working on less than the average 8 hours of sleep can cause mental, emotional and physical problems for anyone. While there are a lot of causes for sleep deprivation and changing some habits in our day-to-day routine can control some of them. Sleep is necessary for the body and the mind to function at an optimal level, depriving the body of the necessary rest can have adverse affect on the health. Sleep disorders are common among most Americans and it is noted that every individual goes through some kind of sleep problem at some point of their life or the other while most of them maybe temporary or transient there may be others that can in time turn out to be chronic.
Sleep deprivation causes among other things, lack of concentration poor performance and even faulty memory. People who tend to spend a lot of time working think they are being productive on less sleep and are burning the midnight oil to a great financial advantage but in the bargain they do not realize that this is the first and foremost method of inviting a sleep disorder which can weaken the immune system which in turn can make one more easily susceptible to infections and other disease and thus reducing the robust health. Workaholics can become under productive if they do not take care to see that they get the requisite amount of sleep every night. Sleep is the body's way of recharging the batteries and working up a good immune system as also to repair the damage from daily wear tear to the body. Depriving the body this time to revitalize can tell negatively on one's health and can be a source of other illnesses.
\ Children are now being exposed to this culture of having to make more money and hence they hold down part-time or full time jobs after school for long hours, which are telling upon their health. Everyone needs to take time to see if there is anything in his or her lifestyle that needs to change and accommodate a healthier lifestyle and sleep hygiene. Trying to work out a way where one can get the sleep that the body requires is of utmost importance. It is mandatory that one understand the repercussions of sleep deprivation and to instill in their lifestyle a good sleep routine so as to avoid health complications that stem from sleep deprivation. If you suspect that you have a sleep disorder then it is good for you to consult your physician or your doctor and get medical attention.
